Open position: Business Development Advisor/Manager

What we offer

We are looking for a Business Development Advisor/Manager for a permanent position, to strengthen Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence (HREDD) work in the global Fairtrade network. The title will depend on the selected person’s level of experience.

The Advisor/Manager will lead the development of Fairtrade’s new HREDD-related services for commercial partners, supported by a solution-oriented, agile team at Fairtrade’s Centre of Excellence for HREDD.

The Centre leads the development of Fairtrade’s systemwide HREDD-related business services, advocacy work, and internal policies and processes. Fairtrade system consists of some 30 organisations around the world.

Type:  Permanent position.

Location:  Helsinki/Finland. Possibility for a flexible distance work agreement.

Reports to: Director of Fairtrade’s HREDD Centre of Excellence.

What you’ll bring

    • Demonstrated understanding of HREDD and human rights-based thinking

    • Experience in coordinating or supporting corporate HREDD-related work

    • Presentation, facilitation, and training skills

    • Excellent English language skills (spoken and written), at least basic skills in Finnish language

Desirable

    • Experience of company-NGO partnerships

    • Experience in developing new service models or business plans

    • Experience working with global teams

    • Experience of working with smallholder farmers or other vulnerable rightsholders

    • Familiarity with Fairtrade or other sustainability certifications

    • University degree, or equivalent higher education qualification, in a relevant field with an interest in sustainability

    • Spanish or French language skills
